Honoree Wanda: September Caregiver of the Month
Assisting Hands Rockford is so proud to honor Wanda as September Caregiver of the month. Wanda came to us from a somewhat retired lifestyle. Many retirees often turn to hobbies; however, Wanda remains very involved in her community, so she gives back by doing what she loves. She volunteers in the Winnebago Community Library, helps with blood drives, health drives, and is an advocate for individuals in Winnebago and surrounding areas. She has also been heavily involved in the school system and has impacted the lives of many young adults, so her impact has been felt community wide.
Ever since Wanda joined the team, she has demonstrated that she is an extremely dependable, hardworking, detail oriented, and caring person, so this honor is well deserved. Wanda regularly helps out our team, as she picks up shifts for other caregivers, brings new ideas to management to help recruit more caregivers and her interaction with clients is amazing to watch. When you meet Wanda, you feel like you’ve known her for years. She knows so many people in the community and brings so much wisdom to all that speak with her, so she is a natural at this role.
Going Above & Beyond to Help Clients
The following exemplifies Wanda’s work ethic, as she was recently introduced to a new client who she helped with 4 loads of laundry, dishes, light housekeeping, meal prep, shower assistance, made the bed and stayed an extra 3 hours to help the client out. She is selfless and attentive to the client’s needs. Today, she went above and beyond to make sure the client wasn’t left alone until his wife could return from her trip to the doctor.
It is an amazing feeling to have someone like Wanda on our team. She embodies all of the qualities that we look for in the ideal caregiver and we’re honored she chose to join our Assisting Hands Rockford family. She’s already talking about taking on more shifts on top of her already busy schedule. I guess she’s no longer in retirement! Caregiving is her calling.
