The Rockford Vet Center hosted the 2nd annual Who Gives a Ruck? 5K raising veteran suicide awareness on May 18 at Peak Sports Club <\/a>in Loves Park. The 5K, which was open to the community, brings awareness to Veteran suicide and the services provided to veterans and their families by the Vet Center.<\/p>\n

Participants of this annual event are encouraged to take part in carrying a 20 lb. backpack or ruck during the 5K, symbolizing the 20 veterans who tragically lose their lives to suicide every day. Beyond the physical challenge, this symbolic gesture fosters a sense of empathy and purpose, urging individuals to actively contribute to the well-being of those who have served our nation.<\/p>\n

The community’s enthusiastic participation in the 2nd Annual Who Gives a Ruck? 5K showed unwavering support for local veterans, emphasizing solidarity and gratitude for their sacrifices. Noteworthy sponsors like Assisting Hands Home Care<\/strong> and Peak Sports Club<\/strong> played a pivotal role in ensuring the success and impact of the event, further amplifying its reach and significance. The impact has been truly remarkable.<\/p>\n

The Rockford Vet Center, located at 7015 Rote Rd., Rockford, is a community-based counseling center that provides a wide range of social and psychological services, including professional counseling to eligible Veterans, service members, and their families.
