The balance between preserving their independence and dignity while helping them and keeping them safe is a delicate balancing act.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are some tips that can help you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/108\/arizona\/suncity\/services\/light-housekeeping-cleaning\/\">Housekeeping<\/a>: <\/strong>Let them do as much as they can. They might not be able to carry the <a href=\"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/108\/arizona\/suncity\/services\/light-housekeeping-cleaning\/\">laundry<\/a>, but they can sit in their chair and fold it. You can then put it away.<\/p>\n<p>Mom can dust the end tables while sitting on the couch or chair. Let her do this while you vacuum.<\/p>\n<p>Dad can\u2019t change a light bulb anymore, but he can assist you. You climb the step stool and hand him the burned-out bulb, he can hand you the new one to install. He feels useful and is not put in danger of climbing a ladder.<\/p>\n<p>Mom can\u2019t stand at the sink to do dishes, but she wants to help. Have her sit in a chair near the dishwasher. You rinse the dishes and hand them over to her. She can place them in the dishwasher. If you don\u2019t use a dishwasher, it may be possible for her to dry some of the dishes with a towel to be put away. Others may need to air dry on a drainer.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/108\/arizona\/suncity\/services\/meal-preparation\/\">Cooking<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong>Mom can help cut up vegetables or meat while sitting at the table. You can stand at the stove and do the <a href=\"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/108\/arizona\/suncity\/services\/meal-preparation\/\">cooking<\/a>. She can offer suggestions on how to cook and season the food. This is a great way for you to learn to cook your favorite \u2018mom\u2019 dishes.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/108\/arizona\/suncity\/services\/grocery-shopping-errands\/\">Shopping<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong>Let them be active in making the shopping list and meal planning. If they are able, let them go to the store with you. If the store you shop at has motorized carts it makes it easy for them be part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/108\/arizona\/suncity\/services\/grocery-shopping-errands\/\">shopping<\/a> and let them pay for their own purchases at the register.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/108\/arizona\/suncity\/services\/personal-care-companion-services\/\">Bathing<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong>Bathing is very personal.
