Understanding Living Assistance Services Lessen the Fear for Your Loved One

June 12, 2015msoltisBlog

Living Assistance Services Living assistance services take the responsibility and burden off of family members and loved ones, whether for short or long term care needs. Care provided can be as simple as performing daily tasks. Services they offer are non-medical and often include companion care – being a friend not only to the senior, but to the extended family. Caregivers providing living assistance services are selected wisely and with great care. The loving care and support they share makes life easier for seniors and their loved ones.

Caregivers can help with many different chores. Living assistance services may include personal care like bathing, toileting, and dressing. Taking walks or helping with the household chores are other service provided. However, companionship and relationship building are often the best products of the amenities provided. Often for the caregiver, their job is not a chore, but an act of love.

Many seniors feel isolated as well as out of touch with family and friends. However, when the caregiver arrives to provide living assistance services, often a dark day turns into pure sunshine. Family and friends are sometimes not prepared for the changing behaviors their loved ones may experience. The caregiver providing assistance is experienced and knows how to communicate and relate. Setting a positive mood and speaking in a respectful manner opens up interaction that may bring the senior out of isolation. The communication process involves learning to use ears, eyes and the open heart, as sometimes the best assistance provided comes through non-verbal cues.

The caregiver provides senior care in a multitude of ways. Understanding living assistance services can be the answer for many.
