Movement, Breathing, and Visualization Improve Care For Seniors

August 27, 2015msoltisBlog

care for seniors are aware of community programs that enhance quality of life, including socialization. Age is not a reason to stop participating; it is an opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.

Some skills improve with age. Research shows that staying active reduces the sudden declines often seen in seniors that may be due to isolation. Engaging with a specialist trained to care for seniors may be just the support system to keep your loved one happy, active and alert.

Having a companion to share time and conversation with is a significant step to defying the myths of aging. The discussions they will share will uncover what brings joy into their lives. Not all seniors need to spend the end of their days in a rocking chair. Participating in a variety of events brings a zest for living, and someone who understands that care for seniors is not always strictly physically based.

Yoga reduces stress, enlightens the mind and promotes better blood flow which may provide clearer thinking skills. Experts who care for seniors state that “if you can breathe, you can do yoga.” Home caregivers recognize the elderly have weaker bones, less flexibility and increased pain. However, one of the benefits of yoga is improved flexibility. Any additional movement is an improvement. The clean breathing enforces stronger bones that protect the senior population from increased arthritis pain and helps prevent falls. Of course, there are many other benefits, and when someone cares for your parent as a person or friend, they are helping extend the quality of their life.
