It was a morning of hope, and the numbers show just how much this community showed up.<\/p>\n<h2>By the Numbers<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>580+ participants<\/strong> walked and ran together<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2534 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/148\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2026\/10\/Screenshot-2026-10-08-090757-225x300.png\" alt=\"head-for-the-cure-5k-2026\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/148\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2026\/10\/Screenshot-2026-10-08-090757-225x300.png 225w, https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/148\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/198\/2026\/10\/Screenshot-2026-10-08-090757.png 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>$115,000+ raised<\/strong> and still counting, for brain tumor research and patient support programs in Chicago<\/li>\n<li>A big jump from last year&#8217;s event, which raised more than $25,000 in grants for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advocatehealth.com\/health-services\/brain-spine-institute\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advocate Health Care&#8217;s Brain and Spine Institute<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Head for the Cure shared that the day was filled with laughs, tears, hugs, and moving moments between friends and families, and that participants left inspired to keep fighting brain cancer, step by step.<\/p>\n<h2>Why We Walked<\/h2>\n<p>This event was personal. Thomaie Hilaris, owner of Assisting Hands Melrose Park, walked in support of her longtime friend and former college roommate Izi Stoll, Ph.D., Co-Founder and CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.numiera.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Numiera Therapeutics<\/a>. Izi&#8217;s team was awarded a $2.3 million NIH grant to support clinical trials for a new brain tumor treatment, and Numiera celebrated that milestone by bringing its mission home to Chicago as a Hope Sponsor of this year&#8217;s event.<\/p>\n<p>Supporting patients, caregivers, and families through serious diagnoses is the heart of what we do every day.
