Meet the owner of Assisting Hands Tracy

I come from a tradition that values family as the cornerstone of a strong foundation. My journey into home care began with my father, who suffered dementia and multiple strokes. His last stroke in 2014 left him half paralyzed, and not long after, he fell and broke his hip, leaving him completely bedridden. At the time, we didn’t know home care agencies existed, so we took it upon ourselves to provide the care he needed.
My closest exposure to professional caregiving was during his stay at a rehab center. While I respected the work being done there, I knew it wasn’t the level of care I wanted for my father, and I was determined he wouldn’t remain there long. With the help of my brother, I became his main caregiver; taking him for walks, assisting with grooming, preparing meals, managing medications, and researching every side effect to ensure his safety; all while continuing to work full-time. I eventually brought him home. In many ways, I served as his caregiver, dietitian, and physical therapist.
Through this journey, I learned what it truly takes to care for an elderly loved one with dignity, honor, and respect. I also realized that the kind of care I provided my father is rare and not easily found elsewhere. When I was introduced to Assisting Hands Home Care, it immediately felt like home. Their mission aligns perfectly with my values, and I hold firmly to the principle: “Love for others what you love for yourself.”

AFFORDABILITY IN HOME CARE

Keeping a loved one in the comfort of their own home is priceless. After a long hospital stay, for example, coordinating the logistics of bathing, meal prep and cleanup, pharmacy runs, etc. can be overwhelming, especially if the patient has adult children whose career requires full-time work. Rather than leaving a good paying job to take care of mom or dad, many families turn to a caregiver. There are four primary ways to pay for home care.
