2020 New Year’s Self Care Tips and Goals

January 10, 2020ahadlock

New Year, Loving the Same Ol’ Us!

As January comes to a close, it’s not too late to think about those New Year’s goals. In fact, it’s the perfect time to revisit them now that the glamour of the New Year has left and focus on those things are really important in our lives.

As the New Year blows it’s blustery new wind into Chicagoland we often turn our minds to how we can improve ourselves and our lives with some New Year’s resolutions. Here at Assisting Hands Home Care we are no different! We are looking forward to a bright new year and what improvements we can make to be as organized as possible on our end to make it as easy as possible for our caregivers to provide top-notch quality home care on your end!

Amid everyone’s personal and professional goals, perhaps to be healthier and to be more productive, it’s important to remember a few things so that you can not only be “better” this year but also stay happy and stress free!

Here are a few of our feel-good tips, to make sure you are taking care of your whole self, mind, body, and heart:

1. Make little goals

Taking care of yourself isn’t always about eating a 100% perfect diet or completely revamping your exercise routine. Remember that goals can be small! Sometimes it can be tempting to make big goals to completely change your life. But sometimes the bigger the change, the harder it can be to stick to it. You may be better served by making a small reachable goal. Once you make that goal a habit, move on to your next little goal!

2. Never forget to stop and smell the roses

While exercise and a healthy diet are very good for your body, stress is also one of the most harmful things for your health! Remember to take it easy. You may be reaching for big life goals, but don’t forget to enjoy life along the way!

3. Appreciate the accomplishments you already have.

The New Year often brings to mind dreams of change, but it is important to always appreciate the amazing person you already are and the wonderful life you already have! In addition to writing a list of New Year’s Resolutions, try writing a list of accomplishments and special life moments that happened in 2019! You may be surprised at how much you’ve done!

When you have a family member or loved one living at home who needs home care assistance, or who you already care for, one of the best ways you can help them, and yourself, is by having a caregiving team with Assisting Hands Home Care.

Remember you need to care for yourself if you want to care for others! At Assisting Hands we want to take some stress off of you and give you some time to take care of you. That way, you are refreshed and ready to spend some quality time with your loved one.
