We are excited to announce our caregiver of the month for May, Alyssa Gootee. Alyssa is one of those special team members who understands how to simultaneously balance the significance of her caregiving responsibilities with the necessity for adding a little fun<\/em> to her client\u2019s day.\u00a0 That means, Alyssa is 100% reliable for her clients, exercises great communication skills when something is just not right, and knows how to read her client when she\u2019s not well.<\/p>\n

Alyssa’s Advice on Caregiving<\/h2>\n

Once all that is under control, Alyssa always thinks of creative ways to improve the quality of life for the individual. She may take her for hot dogs or ice cream on a summer day, take a ride up to a farm for a walk, or enjoy looking at a resale shop in town. Caregiving is about more than meeting someone\u2019s physical needs, and Alyssa intuitively gets that.<\/p>\n

She often tells us how much fun she has with her client and that they keep each other smiling and laughing all day.\u00a0 It\u2019s obvious that Alyssa loves her job by the notes we read on a daily basis.\u00a0 She genuinely enjoys her client\u2019s company-in fact, the word Alyssa chooses for her is \u201cbuddy,\u201d never her \u201cclient.\u201d<\/p>\n

About Alyssa<\/h2>\n

Alyssa\u2019s background has always been in providing some form of home care<\/a> or service.\u00a0 It comes naturally to her and is what she has done since she was a kid. She has worked as a hair stylist and boards dogs in her house with her husband.\u00a0 She calls those her kids that come to stay with her.\u00a0 When she\u2019s not taking care of our clients around town or her dogs at home, you may find her taking care of some plants in her garden, another passion of Alyssa\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Her advice to a new caregiver or someone providing service of any kind is to listen and smile<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When we asked Alyssa what her main goals are in the near future, here\u2019s what she told us:<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to be happy with what I\u2019m doing at work and always have a family to care for.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n
