Straight from the source, our lead caregiver, Allison, gives us some reasons why YOU might love to work as a Caregiver<\/a> for Assisting Hands Home Care.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Work in a safe environment<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"COVID-19Our caregivers at Assisting Hands work one-on-one with our clients in their homes, and our Case Manager Aurora always visits our clients homes to make sure they are safe before we send a caregiver there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Especially during these uncertain times with COVID-19, you can feel confident that we are concerned for the health of all of our caregivers and clients. We have no-touch thermometers in every clients\u2019 house, which is a part of our safety protocol<\/a> before each shift. We provide every caregiver with the necessary PPE and we also have a COVID-19 Training in addition to our other Caregiver Trainings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We want you to be safe and prepared! <\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Have a flexible schedule<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

At Assisting Hands Home Care, you tell us your availability, and we will work to find a case that fits with your schedule! Just looking for weekends? Overnights? Only available a few days each week? Or maybe you have completely open availability? Let us know! We will be your matchmakers to find the perfect client for your schedule and abilities.<\/span>

3. Work close to home<\/span><\/h3>\n

Work where you live! We serve clients in Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect, Des Plaines, Prospect Heights and Wheeling. If you live in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, Assisting Hands is the perfect place to find a client in your neighborhood. Plus, we always love to see your lovely face at our office in Arlington Heights! <\/span><\/p>\n

4. Gain life skills<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"GirlWorking as a caregiver<\/a> means so many different things. We help our clients live at home in comfort and with joy, and each of our clients\u2019 needs is different. Helping your clients may mean brushing up on your cooking skills, or practicing puzzles, or changing a lightbulb. And helping your clients definitely means working on your people skills!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You never know what experiences may come your way while you are working as a caregiver, and handling all manner of challenges and situations in your work will definitely help you continue to greet the world and it\u2019s various challenges with grace, respect and confidence. <\/span>

5. Learn from your elders\u2019 and hear their life stories<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

In addition to honing your domestic, recreational, creative and compassionate people skills, there is so much else to learn from your clients! Our seniors have lived full and interesting lives and hearing their stories is a beautiful part of our job. Our seniors love to tell their stories, and we love to hear them.\u00a0 <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>There is an African proverb: \u201cWhen an old person dies a library burns to the ground.\u201d As a caregiver you have the privilege to explore some very big libraries!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

6. Feel good about helping someone<\/span><\/h3>\n

One of the magical things about working as a caregiver is creating a meaningful relationship with your clients. You can leave work every shift, knowing that you have made a difference in someone\u2019s life. Many times, simply your presence in your client\u2019s life makes all the difference. Many of our clients live alone and may need some help around the house, and often they really need some company! If just your presence can make that big of an impact in a senior\u2019s life, think about how much good you are doing by helping your clients with as much as you do every shift.\u00a0 <\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Feel good about helping your community<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

In the age of COVID-19, our seniors have especially been experiencing isolation and disconnection from their communities. Working as a caregiver is a safe way to help someone one on one with loneliness, and you can feel connected to your greater community by helping someone in your community! <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>As a plus, many of our clients have lived here for many years. Try asking your clients about how your town or area used to be, you may learn something new! <\/span><\/p>\n

8. Be supported by a great staff<\/h3>\n

We pride ourselves on not only cultivating a caring culture for our clients, but also for our caregivers. Our happy, helpful office staff is always ready to answer your questions and support you! <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Our Scheduling Coordinator, Melinda, will be in constant contact with you; she works hard to find a schedule that matches your needs. Our Case Manager, Aurora, will train you and help you with your on-the-job caregiving knowledge and skills. Our Office Administrator, Dawn, is happy to answer any of your payroll questions. And our Lead Caregiver, Allison, (that\u2019s me!) will help you with your credentials and with any support you need along the way! And Daniellah, the Assisting Hands owner and our fearless leader, will be there to guide and support you and our whole entire team!<\/span><\/p>\n

9. Join us for caregiver meetings and parties<\/h3>\n

\"Caregiver-Cafe-Arlington-Heights-IL\"In order to support you out in the field, we try to regularly organize meetings, one on one with you in the office, as well as group caregiver meetings. This summer we had a virtual Zoom meeting to check in with everyone.<\/p>\n

And most importantly, we love to throw parties! When times are a little more back to normal, we love to have open houses and holiday parties at the office and sometimes at fun local spots in the area…last year we had a Paint Night Potluck Party<\/a>!<\/p>\n

10. Join us for Caregiver Appreciation Day…every month! <\/span>
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

In addition to our special occasions and meetings we are currently hosting a Caregiver Appreciation Day…every single month! Because we always appreciate the work that you do. We know that being a caregiver encompasses a wide variety of skills and requires a hard work ethic and we appreciate all of the beautiful work that you do every day! <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>In celebration of you, stop by the office at any time on one day each month to say hello and pick up a special treat.<\/span><\/p>\n
