At Assisting Hands, we are excited to announce that over half of our staff has received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and will be fully vaccinated in about a month!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two important things to know about the vaccine:\"COVID-19<\/span><\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. It may take up to two weeks<\/span> after<\/b> receiving the second dose (administered 4 weeks after the first dose) for the vaccine to have full efficacy.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Individuals who receive the vaccine should still wear masks and follow all of the same safety guidelines! People who have had the vaccine may still carry and transmit the virus.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    We are eagerly looking forward to a time when our caregivers AND our clients can be vaccinated, so we want to be prepared. The Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) is the best resource currently for most of our clients in the Northwest Suburbs because the CCDPH serves all of Cook County except Chicago, Evanston, Skokie, Oak Park and Stickney Township.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    According to the CCDPH, we are still in phase 1a on the vaccines, so if you are a senior who doesn\u2019t work in healthcare or who doesn\u2019t live in a facility, you may have to wait until phase 1b which starts in February. You can find the full statement here:<\/span><\/p>\n
