The films start showing a few minutes after sundown, and some lucky residents are awarded a DVD of the movie being aired that night. This happens through a draw whose tickets are distributed before the start of the movie. The event is free for the residents of this area and their guests.
The community has two swimming teams comprised of family members of the community’s residents. The two teams, CLS Piranha and ODSL Piranhas, accommodate several families who may have an interest in participating in the summer swimming sport. The teams accord the Broadlands’ community an opportunity to take part in a grand summer activity that is full of fun. The activity is also rewarding as it builds companionship between the residents and assists in improving the swimming techniques of residents.
The community also hosts a series of concerts every year. These concerts are free to members of the community. The concert is the longest running outdoor activity in Ashburn. The event is a not-for-profit function organized and run by a committee known as the Concert Committee. The funding of the event comes from the Homeowners Association, food vendors as well as generous sponsors. The concerts take place on the second Friday of every month from May to August starting from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
