{"id":12088,"date":"2020-03-20T17:41:10","date_gmt":"2020-03-20T17:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/assistinghands.com\/29\/why-everyone-needs-an-annual-checkup\/"},"modified":"2021-10-12T12:58:54","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T12:58:54","slug":"why-everyone-needs-an-annual-checkup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/29\/newjersey\/monmouth\/blog\/why-everyone-needs-an-annual-checkup\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Everyone Needs an Annual Checkup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2658 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/29\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/54\/2020\/05\/doctor-563428_640-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/29\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/132\/2020\/05\/doctor-563428_640-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/29\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/132\/2020\/05\/doctor-563428_640.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>You think you\u2019re in good health, right?\u00a0 Don\u2019t have time for an annual checkup?\u00a0 Or what about your parents or grandparents for whom you are responsible\u2014are you avoiding taking them in for their checkups because they \u201cjust don\u2019t need one right now?\u201d \u00a0The problem with that is that, for one, the purpose of prevention is to get to the problem BEFORE it becomes bigger and requires more severe treatment, and out of the <strong>133 million Americans<\/strong> living with chronic diseases, nearly one-third of them are unaware that they have a chronic condition (<a href=\"https:\/\/nccd.cdc.gov\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">CDC<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Preventative care is called \u201cpreventative\u201d for a reason: \u00a0it is there to <strong>PREVENT<\/strong> anything with your health from going bad!\u00a0 It is important for the maintenance of good health, and everyone should adopt preventative checkups into their annual routine. \u00a0This could save you an immense amount of time and money down the road and could even save your life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The checkup should include things like checking:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>your weight and height<\/li>\n<li>your vitals (blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature)<\/li>\n<li>heart health, respiratory health, skin health, BMI (Body Mass Index)<\/li>\n<li>labs for blood count, cholesterol, glucose, vitamin deficiencies, etc.<\/li>\n<li>osteoporosis screening, which is typically done for women starting at 65, unless there are other risk factors, and for men at age 70<\/li>\n<li>and more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, there are many age-related and gender-related screenings that can be done as well.\u00a0 This includes screens for colorectal, breast, and cervical cancer; problems related to obesity; Type Two Diabetes; and more.<\/p>\n<p>Your provider will also check if you are up to date on vaccines, which aren&#8217;t just for children!
