In addition to Activities of Daily Living (ADu) Assisting Hands is able to provide Health Maintenance Activities (HMA’s). HMA’s are health related services and tasks that require a higher skill level to perform. Assisting Hands has a dedicated RN to assess client’s needs, abilities, condition, communications skills and environment. The RN, along with the client and family members develop a comprehensive care plan to meet the needs of the client. By adding this additional level of care, Assisting Hands supports the individual’s choices and preferences in order to perverse their dignity and independence.
HMA's may include:
• Topically applied medications
• Administering oral medication
• Unit dose medications administration by way of inhalation (MDI’s) including medication administered as nebulizer treatments for prophylaxis and /or maintenance
• Routine administration of prescribed dose of oxygen noninvasive ventilation (NIV) such as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and bi-level positive air way pressure (BiPAP) therapy
• Administering of a bowel and bladder program Including but not limited to suppositories, enemas, casks related to external stomach care, pouch changes, measuring intake and output and other tasks related to bowel and bladder programs.
• Routine preventive skin care and care of Stage 1 pressure ulcers
• Feeding, irrigation and medication administration through a permanently placed feeding tube.
