Aging in place<\/strong> is defined as \u201cthe ability to live in one\u2019s own home and community safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level\u201d according to the Center for Disease Control.<\/p>\n

Each year more and more people are choosing to pursue this route; the Report to the Nation on Livable Communities published by AARP in December 2011, indicates that a substantial majority of adults would prefer to age in place\u2014that is, remain in their home as long as possible; 90 percent of adults over the age of 65 indicate that they would prefer to stay in their current residence as they age.<\/p>\n
