Ellen Hughes — Co-Owner

Ellen has lived and worked in Northern Virginia for over 35 years and is a graduate of James Madison University. She started Assisting Hands Home Care out of a desire to help others in her community who need assistance at home with their daily routines.

“So many families don’t know where to even start when a family member needs assistance at home whether it be post-surgery or the desire to age in place. They don’t know where to go, what to do, or who to trust, and I want my home care agency to be the place where people can go for answers and peace of mind.”

Assisting Hands Home Care has a mission to provide their clients with quality care that enables them to live happier, healthier lives at home. Our services are distinguished by the quality of our caregivers, the professionalism of our staff and our expertise in providing 24/7 care. We believe in providing a positive and caring approach to aging that is centered around the continually evolving needs of our clients. Every caregiver that Ellen has on staff goes through extensive background screening and in-house training before being hired. She takes a personal responsibility to ensure that the caregiver provided for your support is someone she would want to take care of her own family.

Steve Lorberbaum — Co-Owner

Steve is a Certified Senior Advisor and was a practicing attorney, licensed in the District of Columbia for over 30 years. For the last ten years, he has served as a senior operations consultant and executive with a broad background in real estate, specialty finance, and systems integration. Steve has a BS in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University and a JD degree from George Washington University.

Steve is active in several civic organizations and is the President to the DC Tri-state Chapter of the Children’s Tumor Foundation. He is also a Board Member and Treasurer of Cupid’s Charities of Washington, DC.

Eileen Milligan — Director of Nursing

Eileen received her registered nursing degree in 1995.  She has since worked in pediatrics and raised three children in the Reston area.  Eileen has a true passion to assist people during the process of life and the changes that come with it.  She strives to connect with her clients and develop effective care plans that serve the client and their families best.  When Eileen is not working with Assisting Hands she enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering with local organizations, going to the gym, hiking and traveling.

Ashley Kohl — Scheduling Coordinator

Ashley has lived in Maryland and Virginia since assistinghands.com/2015/37/maryland/potomac/events/” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer”>Patricia facilitates several programs: Death Cafe, Book Events, What’s Your Plan and others. Patricia represents Assisting Hands as an active member of the Rockville Chamber of Commerce, Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce, GROWS and the Senior Services Alliance.

Patricia Dubroof joined Assisting Hands in March of 2019. She has over 35 years of experience in caring for seniors through creativity and coaching.  She developed arts and healing programs at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, Iona Senior Service, Washington DC Veterans Medical Center and many other local and national organizations.

Patricia is the founder of Women Leaders in Elder World. We are a group of caring and experienced professionals from a wide variety of disciplines eager to help you and your loved ones find the best solutions and resources.
