“Assisting Hands Home Care was very responsive. In this case it involved a friend who needed help when things got out of control quickly following surgery. Steve Lorberbaum was very responsive. And I don’t think we were easy clients! My friend had some problems following surgery and needed someone to care for her. When I would call Assisting Hands during this time, Steve always had our back. He was very respectful of her and at the same time he made sure she was taken care of very well. When I called AHHC, I always got an answer or an immediate call back. And eventually, as the situation improved, AHHC was very helpful as we scaled back the help needed from 24 hours to a few hours each day. At one point, thanks to Assisting Hands, they also found an alternative form of travel when my friend had to make an appointment. Even better, the person who transported my friend was also able to stay with her during the appointment. It was nice that I could call on AHHC and options were available.”

When a friend, residing in an assisted living facility, wanted to go to Annapolis for an engineering meeting, involving an overnight stay, I needed someone to help him. We called on Assisting Hands and they sent a very capable caregiver who transported my friend, stayed with him in his room and made sure his needs were met while he and I attended this meeting. Assisting Hands did a very great job at a very reasonable cost. My friend was extremely happy given that it had been two years since he was well enough to attend.

My mother got sick and I was pretty confused and depressed about what to do next.  Assisting Hands has been great about helping us figure out what kind of help she needs and providing high quality help.  My mother likes some of her aides better than others, but she doesn’t dislike any of them.  They are all gracious, polite and kind.  Yesterday my mother got unexpected news from her M.D. that she needed to go on an antibiotic and her lovely aide (“Etsy”) was on the case and helped her to take care of everything.  I feel like their help has been invaluable for my mother (and saved me from going completely nuts).

I had back surgery and needed short term assistance.  I am not sure how they could afford to do this but they provided a nursing assistant and meetings with a healthcare manager and a nurse who also supervised everything.  When I had some serious pain medication issues I had a hard time getting through to the surgeon’s staff or my GP’s office.  But Leyla from Assisting Hands was available immediately to provide guidance.  The way hospitals push you out of the hospital so quickly and with busy medical staff, Assisting Hands really came through for me.

Last April, Assisting Hands Home Care sent Anthony (and Joshua on the weekends), to assist with the care of my 89 year old father.  When they arrived, the entire household spirit changed. They brought a sensitivity and maturity we had not seen with other caregivers.  They knew that my dad was trying to hold on to his dignity and independence and they went to great lengths to help him do just that. Last November, I had the opportunity to stay with my mother-in-law for a few days after her husband’s(my father-in-law’s) death. Luckily they had already set up home health care with your company. Witnessing the overwhelming kindness, curiosity, and expertise of Vida and her partners was a gift to my weary soul.

The women who cared for Zoe are beyond stellar. In addition to performing their caretaking responsibilities, they extended themselves to me in friendship. We shared meaningful conversations about our lives, hopes, and dreams. I returned home feeling reassured that Zoe was in the best hands available for her life.

Earlier this month Zoe also made her transition. I am sad and will miss her lovely spirit. At the same time, I am happy that both Zoe and Howard were nurtured by the divine presence of Vida and her partners and would absolutely trust them with my own care. I wish them well in their careers, hopes, and dreams.
