The baby boomer generation consists of more than 70 million veterans and many of them are nearing retirement. These veterans will soon need home care if they choose to age in the familiarity of their homes. You or your loved one may be eligible for Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits if you are a veteran and these will help cover the cost for in-home care. VA home health care will help pay for the cost of in-home care for the veteran and their spouse.
At Assisting Hands Home Care, we provide VA senior care services for veterans in Dallas, TX, who qualify for VA benefits. We are an approved provider of VA home-based care, so we can offer quality in-home care services for veterans. Give us a call for more information about our VA home health care program and how it can assist your or a loved one with your home care costs.
Applying for VA Senior Care
If you or your loved one is a veteran and qualify for VA benefits, you must apply through the Department of Veterans Affairs. Once you have been approved for medical benefits, they will cover the cost of after surgery care and in-home care from our trained caregivers at Assisting Hands.
Our licensed caregivers offer compassionate, quality care to help veterans age safely in their own homes. We learn the specific needs of you or your loved one during an assessment and create a care plan that covers those needs. Our VA senior care services include assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and other daily tasks like light housekeeping, transportation, and meal preparation.
We provide the following VA home health care programs for veterans:
VA Home Health Program
Our VA Home Health Program provides up to 12 hours of senior care per week to eligible veterans. Those who qualify for this program must be assessed for geriatric extended care (GEC) from a medical doctor (MD), social worker (SW), and registered nurse (RN).
Those who are eligible for our VA Home Health Program must meet one of the following criteria:
- Dependency with 3 or more ADLs
- Significant cognitive impairment
VA Respite Program
If you or a loved one are a veteran who requires care from a caregiver, you can receive respite care through our VA home care program. Our caregivers will arrive at the home to offer care at scheduled times to allow the primary caregiver time off. Those who are eligible for this program must complete an evaluation from a registered nurse, social worker, or medical doctor.
Those who qualify must also meet one of the following criteria:
- Dependency with 3 or more ADLs
- Significant cognitive impairment
