In Pinellas County, there are many elders at risk of being forgotten this holiday season. But thanks to many volunteers and generous donors, more than 700 elders won’t be forgotten this year.
It’s Elf Season and time for the Annual Elves for Elders collection drive. Since September, case managers, social workers, guardians and others have been collecting names of needy elders in our community and assembling their Christmas wish list. The tags have been created and now hang in Big Lot’s stores and several office locations across the county, including our office at Assisting Hands Home Care, 6251 Park Blvd, Ste 7, Pinellas Park FL.
Come by Assisting Hands to pick up a tag and shop for your elder. You’ll love to see what they’ve asked for. One wants a stuffed animal, a new shirt and pants. Another wants a cat toy, slippers & new pajamas. Return your gifts when you come to our Third Annual Elves for Elders Party on Wednesday, November 30th, 4-6 pm. Santa will be on hand for pictures and mom is making her amazing holiday baked goods, plus yummy food from Roe’s Deli. It’s sure to be an amazing afternoon.
Can’t make it by to pick up a tag prior to the party, don’t worry! You can bring toiletry items like shampoo, deodorant, lotion, adult briefs and books like crossword puzzles, word searches or adult coloring books. Candy and diabetic treats are always appreciated! No gifts or donation is too small! Come on, even Santa needs an Assisting Hand! Be part of the solution and make an elder smile this holiday season!

Becky Moultrie is Owner and Administrator of Assisting Hands Home Care Serving Pinellas. Guided by a motto to Do Good with Love, she’s well positioned to do just that at Assisting Hands. She has a passion for helping families keep seniors and those who are diabled happy and healthy at home. She serves on a number of boards in Pinellas County including the Pinellas Park Gateway Chamber and Better Living Seniors (BLS), leading the Membership Committee. Annually, she hosts a Silver Santa Party, collecting donations for nearly 100 low income seniors in the county. She attends Blessed Sacrament Church, Seminole where she is an Ascribed Member of the Rosminian Order. When not busy Doing Good in the community, Becky is at home with her husband David & their 4 children, tending to their beehives and digging in the garden.
