She has previously served as the Missions Chair for the Pinellas Walk to END ALZ. She is currently in her 3rd year as the Secretary for the Guardian Association of Pinellas County, and was recently named by Tim Simpson, the President of Seasons Hospice, to serve on the Local Governing Body for Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care of Pinellas County, LLC. *Seasons is the first hospice in Pinellas County to achieve the We Honor Veterans Level 5 status* Michelle is also Certified Eden at Home Associate and an Alzheimer’s support group facilitator.
Michelle changed careers when her father, who now lives with her, was diagnosed with dementia. Her unique perspective as both a care partner and a healthcare professional enables her to build relationships on a very personal and intimate level.
“My goal is to share the GIFTS we offer here at Assisting Hands to enable elders and their families to make educated decisions regarding how their loved one can thrive, with our support, wherever they call home. I know God placed in me, the passion to serve others with love, this is what drew me to Becky and her team”.
The GIFTS Michelle is referring to are the core Vision for Assisting Hands: God, Integrity, Family, Trust, Service.
“I am thrilled to share that our leadership has over 100 years hands on experience serving elders here in Pinellas. The fact that our Caregivers have the expertise of Dr Cate McCarty PhD to train them in her ME proprietary program and the oversight of 2 RNs, positions us to be THE experts in cognitive engagement and enhancing the lives of elders, setting us apart from others in the industry.”
“The culture of integrity stands out in so many ways, in addition to the fact that all caregivers are employees who have undergone strict vetting, and are insured, covered by Worker’s Compensation and paid a very competitive wage. They are supported with paid time off, and offered medical, dental and vision insurance. All team members surpass the CDC guidelines for proper PPE and are tested for COVID-19 to ensure that our clients are being cared for by the most trustworthy, highly qualified caregivers with a heart for service to others.”
Now more than ever, the decision on where an elder will live out their golden years is one that must be carefully considered.
