

Florida’s tax holiday for hurricane disaster preparedness begins Saturday. Consumers can purchase qualifying hurricane preparedness supplies without tax during the holiday that takes place from May 28 to June 10.

2022 Florida Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday Quick Facts
• Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday began in 2014.
• The Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday runs from Saturday, May 28 thru Friday, June 10, 2022.
• In 2021, it was a 10 day holiday, this year has been extended to 14 days.
• Examples of tax-free items include flashlights and lanterns costing $40 or less; radios costing $50 or less; tarps costing $100 or less, coolers costing $60 or less, batteries costing $50 or less; and generators costing $1,000 or less.
• Following the impact of a hurricane, residents may lose access to basic services, such as power and water, and be subject to limited or no access to essentials like food, drinking water and medicine. With these situations in mind, all individuals and families are encouraged to stock up on essentials and build a disaster supply kit to last for a minimum of seven days.

She serves on a number of boards in Pinellas County including the Pinellas Park Gateway Chamber and Better Living Seniors (BLS), leading the Membership Committee. Annually, she hosts a Silver Santa Party, collecting donations for nearly 100 low income seniors in the county. She attends Blessed Sacrament Church, Seminole where she is an Ascribed Member of the Rosminian Order. When not busy Doing Good in the community, Becky is at home with her husband David & their 4 children, tending to their beehives and digging in the garden.
