Seniors Can Enjoy Summer Picnics With Home Care Assistance

Summer is here and that means summer picnics and family get togethers. If your senior loved one usually hosts a family picnic for the Fourth of July, a birthday, or an anniversary but they are worried about hosting it because they are having some physical challenges, home care assistance can help. With home care assistance your senior parent can still host their usual family picnic, or make their traditional potato salad for a family event, and enjoy summer picnics like they always have. A few of the things that home care assistance can help seniors with over the summer include things like:

Making Those Signature Summer Dishes

Does your senior parent have a couple of special summer dishes that they are known for? Those dishes that they bring to every picnic and summer gathering? If your senior parent hasn’t been able to make their signature dishes because they can no longer mix ingredients, chop, peel, or prepare foods with home care assistance they can make those signature dishes again. A home care provider can help with the heavy lifting so that your senior loved one can have the joy of bringing their signature picnic food to the table again this summer.

Getting Ready To Host Family And Friends

If your family always gets together at your senior parent’s home there is a lot of work that needs to be done to get a home ready to host. Your senior parent may not be able to do things like vacuum, mop, get the outdoor furniture arranged, prepare food, shop for linens and cups and plates and all of the things that are necessary for a great picnic. Home care assistance can make things like housework, shopping, and setting up the yard more manageable so that your senior parent can relax and not get stressed out about making sure the house is ready for summer family events.

Getting Dressed For A Summer Get Together

Seniors who are attending summer picnics at other family member’s homes needs to be sure that they are dressed for the weather and that they will be safe from the sun and wind outdoors if the party or picnic is outdoors. A care provider will help your senior parent pick out a weather appropriate outfit, make sure your senior parent is wearing sunscreen and bug repellant, and also check to be sure that they have sunglasses, a sun hat, and other accessories that they need to protect themselves from the sun and heat.

Cleaning Up After A Family Dinner Or Picnic

After a family outdoor dinner or picnic there is a lot of cleanup that has to be done. If your senior loved one is hosting the picnic having home care assistance to help clean up afterward can take a lot of the burden off of your senior loved one. You and your siblings can also help get rid of the trash, put furniture back, and make sure that any food is appropriate put away so that your senior loved one can enjoy it later.
