People need to get at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. How do you do this when you already feel pressed for time as a family caregiver? The benefit of stretches is that they don’t take long. Have you considered how easy it is to fit in stretches while completing routine tasks? Have your parents join you. They need exercise, too. All of these are easy to do, so your parents don’t have to worry about overexerting. When your senior needs to practice stretching and low-impact exercises without you, that’s when it becomes crucial that you enlist the help of senior home care.
Brushing Your Teeth

Senior Home Care in Seminole FL
While brushing your teeth, stand up on your tiptoes and slowly return your heel to the floor. Aim for a count of 30 as that covers the 30 seconds it takes to brush one of the four quadrants in your mouth. If balance is a problem, use your free hand to hold the counter or sink to steady yourself.
When you’ve done 30 tiptoe stretches, switch to knee bends. With your feet together, lower your backside like you’re going to sit down. Rise back up. Again, aim for 30 of these. Once you’re done this 30, go back to the tiptoe exercises.
Washing Dishes
Stretch out while you wash dishes. Tighten your abs and glutes and hold for a count of ten. Relax them before repeating. After 30 of these, do some neck rolls. Start in a counter-clockwise direction. After ten of them, roll your neck clockwise. Switch between neck rolls and the tightening exercises.
Dusting
When you’re dusting surfaces or wiping down counters, stretch as far as you can. If you have a long counter to sanitize, don’t walk from one point to the next. Stretch to the left and right as far as you safely can. Only when you can no longer safely stretch should you walk to the next point.
Laundry Chores
It’s laundry day. While you load the washing machine, shrug your shoulders up as high as you can get them. Roll them back as you lower them. Keep going while you sort clothing to go into the washer.
When you fold laundry, put on some wrist weights. The extra weight helps strengthen arm muscles while folding and stacking clean clothes, towels, and sheets. It also helps to keep the laundry basket at a lower level. You’ll need to bend over when you need something new to fold.
