GOT BOOKS?
Do you ever find your bookshelves in need of a good purge? Avid readers have to
periodically find new homes for many of the books they own in order to make
room for new ones. While you can always sell your books at used book stores
around town, you could also consider donating them to the Austin Public
Library’s Recycled Reads Bookstore.
Recycled Reads, located at 5335 Burnet Road in Austin, takes donations from the
public in addition to processing all of the public library’s discarded materials.
Volunteers and library staff sell, recycle or repurpose all the material and the
proceeds benefit the Austin Public Library.
Here are just a few reasons why a visit to Recycled Reads is well worth your time:
–Incredible prices: Most items are priced at 50 cents to $2 per item
–It’s not just books. Media such as DVD’s are available for purchase.
–Programming for adults and children. Check out the website for schedules.
–Landfill diversion. Recycled Reads diverts approximately 25 tons of materials
from the landfill each month.
So, kill two birds with one stone. Round up some old books, take your donation
to the store and then hang out to shop for some incredible deals on new
materials.
