TO ALL WHO HAVE SERVED, PAST AND PRESENT,
WE THANK YOU!
DID YOU KNOW? Funds are available to Veterans and surviving spouses of Veterans to assist them with paying for a caregiver to come to their home.
INTRODUCTION
Millions of America’s senior citizens are veterans or surviving spouses of veterans. As these heroes age, home is where they want to spend their senior years—surrounded by their favorite people and familiar
things.
A little-known Veterans Administration benefit, the Homemaker/Home Health Aide/Respite, can help to fund this care. This benefit assists those that qualify for up to 168 hours a week to assist in keeping them independent at home.
Qualifications for the Homemaker/Home Health Aide/Respite
Homemaker/Home Health Aide/Respite is available to
- Any Veteran enrolled in VA health care
- A referral coming from Veterans Service Coordinators
- Military, Naval or Air service members who were separated under any condition other than dishonorable.
- Current and former members of the Reserves or National Guard who were called to active duty (other than for training only) by a federal order and completed the full period for which they were called or ordered to active duty.
