At Assisting Hands Home Care, we believe that providing the best possible care means continuous learning, growing, and building strong relationships in our community.<\/strong> We partnered with SaraBella Assisted Living<\/a> to host a vital training event for our team of caregivers and their staff. Marcy MacPherson from Still Alive Inside <\/em><\/a>led a comprehensive training on advanced dementia care techniques, which focused <\/span>on the crucial topic of dementia care.<\/p>\n

This training was an in-depth journey into understanding and supporting clients in the later stages of dementia. While our caregivers already possess extensive training in Alzheimer\u2019s and dementia care<\/a>, this session was about upskilling\u2014enhancing our caregivers’ expertise to offer even more specialized care.<\/p>\n

Key Highlights of The Event<\/h2>\n

Advanced Training: <\/strong>The training was based on the Positive Approach to Care, pioneered by Teepa Snow<\/a> and delivered by Marcy MacPherson. The Positive Approach is a relationship-centered method, emphasizing the importance of understanding the strengths of those living with cognitive decline. Caregivers learn how to create a supportive environment that promotes dignity, comfort, and empathy.<\/p>\n

Building Expertise:\u00a0<\/strong>Our caregivers not only participated in this engaging, hands-on training but also earned educational units and a certification in advanced dementia care. This certification reflects their commitment to being proficient in recognizing the needs of seniors with late-stage dementia<\/a> and providing care that truly makes a difference.<\/p>\n
