Congratulations to Jessica M., Assisting Hands Lombard\u2019s Caregiver of the Month January 2022.<\/p>\n
When asked what drew her to being a Caregiver, Jessica says,<\/p>\n
\u201cI have always liked to take care of people, I have always had a good heart and been responsible. I take things seriously. So this is a good job for me.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Her client, Bernice agrees with her. When I ask Bernice how things are working out with Jessica, she says with delight,<\/p>\n
\u201cShe is very careful with me and makes me feel safe. She\u2019s a pleasant person, knows how to cook\u2026.you couldn\u2019t find a better person!\u201d Bernice adds that Jessica is \u201dLoving, Caring, Helpful, and basically, she\u2019s TERRIFIC!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Bernice especially likes the authentic Mexican fare that Jessica cooks up for her each evening.<\/p>\n
Among other things, Assisting Hands staff and ownership appreciate Jessica for her Compassion, her Commitment, and her good Communication skills. Jessica always shows up on time, has been well liked by every family who meets her, is always up to date on her credentials and training, and pays close attention to things like clock-ins and getting her care notes done!<\/p>\n
As a teen, Jessica dreamt of being a nurse. Jessica is making plans to pursue that dream of being a nurse while she works long steady hours as a caregiver and saves money to go back to school.<\/p>\n
Born in Los Angeles, Jessica moved to the Chicago area with her mom and dad when she was about a year old. Her family is from the small town of Morelos, three hours south of Mexico City. When she was 6, Jessica and her parents moved there until she was a teen. Jessica tells me the small town she grew up in offers little opportunity for young people who are not well connected, and that even as a kid she knew she wanted to build a better life.<\/p>\n
Jessica\u2019s uncle encouraged her to come live with him in Colorado in high school.<\/p>\n
With a dream of wanting more for herself, Jessica made that move and graduated from high school in Colorado. After High school, Jessica briefly moved to Mississippi to be with her sister. While traveling to Chicago to visit family she met her boyfriend and soon made Chicagoland her home.<\/p>\n
Jessica lives with her father in the Chicago suburbs.<\/p>\n
