{"id":529,"date":"2015-04-22T01:14:41","date_gmt":"2015-04-22T01:14:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/assistinghands.com\/chicagoland-naperville\/?p=529"},"modified":"2021-09-29T03:34:10","modified_gmt":"2021-09-29T03:34:10","slug":"watch-out-for-loneliness-during-the-holidays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/assistinghands.com\/8\/illinois\/chicagoland-naperville\/blog\/watch-out-for-loneliness-during-the-holidays\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch out for loneliness during the holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The holiday season is supposed to be a nurturing time for family members to reconnect and celebrate.\u00a0 But for many seniors, the holidays can bring feelings of sadness, loneliness and isolation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not unusual for seniors to hide their feelings of isolation and sadness from family members during the holidays\u00a0 because they \u00a0don&#8217;t want to worry the family by displaying these feeling or try to deny them,\u201d said Richard Ueberfluss, a physical therapist and president of Assisting Hands Chicago, with <a href=\"http:\/\/assistinghands.com\/20\/illinois\/hinsdale\/\">home care agencies in Hinsdale<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/assistinghands.com\/8\/illinois\/chicagoland-naperville\/\">Naperville<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ueberfluss notes that there are many factors that contribute to those feelings of sadness, including those that have been widowed, have lost close friends as they age, are separated from family and may be suffering from ill health.
