It is in your 20\u2019s and 30\u2019s that you should be planting the seeds for a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you are 25 or 65, here are 5 tips to a healthier heart:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u><\/u><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Move.<\/span> It is important to get your heart rate up at least 2 \u2013 3 times per week. That doesn\u2019t mean you need to run a marathon. Whether you run, walk, bike, step or something else, do something you enjoy. If you enjoy it, you will want to do it more and it won\u2019t seem like exercise.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-781\" src=\"\/8\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2016\/12\/fruits-chronic-conditions-386758_250.jpg\" alt=\"fruits-386758_1280\" width=\"225\" height=\"151\" \/>Moderation.<\/span> There are many \u2018diets\u2019 out there that will tell you to eat less carbs or less fat or less meat or less dairy. Consider this \u2013 read the ingredients in any packaged food. If you can\u2019t pronounce it, don\u2019t eat it. Try to eat whole foods when you can. Does that mean you have to give up a few chips and dip now and then? Moderation is the key!<\/li>\n<li><u>Cut the sugar.<\/u> While we are talking about food, remember to reduce the amount of sugar you consume. It appears in a lot more foods than you think and goes by a lot of different names \u2013 corn syrup, dextrose, molasses, fructose, glucose, and more. Too much sugar can cause weight gain, high blood pressure and more issues that put you at a greater risk of heart disease.<\/li>\n<li><u><\/u><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Sleep.<\/span> There is something to be said for a good night\u2019s sleep; you wake up refreshed in the morning, ready for a new day. That may mean turning off the electronic devices before going <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-783\" src=\"\/8\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2016\/12\/meditation-1063449_640-300x198.jpg\" alt=\"meditation-1063449_640\" width=\"225\" height=\"149\" \/>to bed, and reducing the alcohol and caffeine you have in the evening. Try to get 7 \u2013 8 hours of sleep each night.<\/li>\n<li><u>Stress less.<\/u> Life can be stressful: Work is a hassle, the kids are sick, the car needs a repair. Take time to de-stress and look at the positive side of things.
