At Assisting Hands, our mission is to help our clients achieve their maximum potential for independence. One of the biggest challenges to that is mobility.
Mobility challenges take many forms. The most severe instance is the potential for falls, which are a leading cause of injury and hospitalization. Difficulty walking is also common, whether it be from muscle weakness, joint pain, or balance issues. Mobility isn’t solely about walking – reaching and bending can also be affected by limited range of motion due to stiffness or reduced flexibility.
An Assisting Hands Care Plan takes all of this into account. We take the time to sit down with clients and their families and create a plan that can focus on improving mobility. Our caregivers support and encourage prescribed exercise routines to strengthen muscles and improve balance. They are also trained to assist with devices such as walkers, shower chairs, and other mobility tools. Finally, we assess the safety of the home environment and suggest safety measures to prevent accidents and falls.
