The AARP reports (https:\/\/www.aarp.org\/research\/topics\/life\/info-2018\/loneliness-social-connections.html<\/a>) that \u201cabout one-third of U.S. adults age 45 and older report feeling lonely.\u201d\u00a0 Loneliness and social isolation have serious health consequences for seniors.\u00a0 According to the CDC (https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/aging\/publications\/features\/lonely-older-adults.html<\/a>), \u201csocial isolation was associated with about a 50% increased risk of dementia.\u201d\u00a0 Heart disease and stroke also had huge increases in prevalence.<\/p>\n

A 50% higher risk for dementia!\u00a0 That makes loneliness a public health crisis we can all do something about.\u00a0 Check in on your loved ones, friends, and neighbors.\u00a0 Go for a walk and chat with people you meet in your neighborhood.\u00a0 It\u2019s good for you and for them!<\/p>\n
