Five First Coast Firework Safety Tips

December 31, 2022James

At Assisting Hands Home Care, we love celebrating with our friends and loved ones almost as much as we love home safety! While fireworks can be a fun and festive way to ring in the new year in Duval or St. Johns County, it’s important to follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. Here are a few tips to help ensure a safe and enjoyable fireworks experience on the first coast:

  1. Use caution when lighting: Only light fireworks in a clear, open area away from buildings, trees, and other structures. Also, make sure to keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby in case of a fire
  2. Keep children and pets a safe distance away: Children and pets should be kept at a safe distance from the fireworks, preferably inside a home or other secure area
  3. Use fireworks as they are intended: Do not throw or point fireworks at people, animals, or structures and do not alter or modify fireworks in any way
  4. Dispose of used fireworks properly: After the grand finale, soak used fireworks in water before disposing of them in a metal trash can to help prevent fires.
  5. Follow local laws and regulations: Different areas along the First Coast have different laws regarding the use of fireworks, so make sure you are aware of and follow all local rules to make sure you are celebrating responsibly

We want everyone across Duval and St. Johns counties to have a safe and fun New Year’s Eve. So consider following these commonsense safety tips to do your part to promote a safe and enjoyable new year!
