hospital.<\/p>\n<p>These facilities include nursing homes, Residential Care Facilities and Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (sometimes called Assisted Living Facilities), skilled nursing facilities or Intermediate Care Facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, long term care insurance can also cover the costs of Home Care including Home Health Care, Personal Care, Homemaker Services, Adult Day Care, Hospice Services or Respite Care.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the facility, some Hospice and Respite care can also be received in a facility like a nursing home.<\/p>\n<p>But coverage largely depends categories of long-term care insurance policies:<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Nursing Facility and Residential Care Facility Only<\/strong>.<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>These policies cover skilled, intermediate or custodial care in a nursing home or similar facility and assisted living care in an Residential Care Facilities\/Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly.<\/li>\n<li>Home care is not covered here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Home Care Only.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>These policies are required to cover Home Care, Home Health Care, Adult Day Care, Personal Care, Homemaker Services, Hospice Services and Respite Care but care in a Nursing Facility or Residential Care Facilities\/Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly is not covered here.<\/li>\n<li>Ask your long term care insurance agent how long term care covers home care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Comprehensive Long-Term Care.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>These policies cover nursing facility care, assisted living care in an RCF\/RCFE and home and community care.<\/li>\n<li>These policies must include at least 8 benefits:\n<ul>\n<li>a nursing home benefit<\/li>\n<li>an Residential Care Facilities\/Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly benefit for assisted living and the 6 home care benefits:\n<ul>\n<li>Home Health Care<\/li>\n<li>Adult Day Care<\/li>\n<li>Personal Care<\/li>\n<li>Homemaker Services<\/li>\n<li>Hospice Service<\/li>\n<li>and Respite Care<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2271 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The California Partnership for Long-Term Care (the Partnership),<\/strong> a program of the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), is a partnership among:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>consumers<\/li>\n<li>the State of California<\/li>\n<li>and a select number of insurance companies, plus the California Public Employees Retirement System (CALPERS).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These insurers offer a special type of long-term care insurance policy, commonly called &#8220;Partnership&#8221; policies, that must meet certain requirements set by the DHCS.<\/p>\n<p>Insurance companies participating in the Partnership program must have their Partnership policies approved by both the Department of Insurance and the DHCS.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, only insurance agents who have received special training are able to sell you a Partnership policy and they are to advise you as to whether the Partnership program works for you.<\/p>\n<p>Inquire and check to confirm that your long term care insurance agent has this special certification to sell Partnership policies.<\/p>\n<h5>Partnership Policies<\/h5>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
