There are a number of different types of non-medical caregivers. One of the most typical is that of the family caregiver which is an individual who takes care of a family member without any form of payment. 1. Family Caregiver<\/h3>\n

A family caregiver<\/a> is an individual who knows the family either as a relative, neighbor or friend who is there to provide a number of different services including emotional support, nursing, homemaking, financial or any other various tasks that an ill or disabled individual needs when they are confined to the home. The vast majority of family caregivers completely volunteer their time without the need to pay to help care for a loved one.<\/p>\n

2. Professional Caregiver<\/h3>\n

A professional caregiver is an individual who is hired to take care of another individual. These types of caregivers are able to provide non-medical or medical care within a care facility or home. Their primary duty is to assist another individual in which that will allow them to live as independently as possible. A professional caregiver will often work for an agency and it is the responsibility of the care recipient or their family to hire the agency to provide proper care.<\/p>\n

3. Independent Caregiver<\/h3>\n

Most volunteer caregivers will typically work in hospice or respite care. Volunteers allow for family providers to take a break from the duties and responsibilities of daily care<\/a>. Many volunteers are typically perceived by in-home care recipients as their neighbors and members of the community.
