Today I had the joy of stepping out of the office and into a room full of energy, laughter, and holiday cheer at the 2025 Women in Business Holiday Luncheon with the Davis Chamber of Commerce.
It was a beautiful reminder that behind every local business, there are real people—women balancing leadership, family, community roles, and a deep desire to make a difference right here in Davis County.
And yes… I even managed to squeeze in a photo with Janet Tueller and the Grinch! 💚🎄
Women Supporting Women in Davis County
The Women in Business Holiday Luncheon is more than just a festive meal—it’s a space where local women:
-
Share ideas and encouragement
-
Celebrate each other’s successes
-
Talk honestly about the challenges of running and growing a business
-
Build relationships that turn into real collaboration and support
As a woman business owner, I always leave these events feeling recharged. It’s powerful to sit in a room filled with women who are passionate about:
-
Growing their businesses
-
Supporting their families
-
Giving back to the community
We’re all in different industries—finance, real estate, healthcare, nonprofits, retail, and more—but we’re connected by the same goal: making Davis County a better place to live, work, and age.
Why Events Like This Matter for Our Seniors
You might wonder, “What does a holiday luncheon have to do with home care?” For us at Assisting Hands Home Care – Davis & Weber Counties, the answer is: everything.
The stronger our business community is, the stronger our community is for seniors and their families.
Here’s how events like this ultimately benefit the people we serve:
-
Stronger local partnerships
When we build relationships with other business owners and community leaders, we’re better able to connect families with trusted resources—financial planners, senior housing, legal help, hospice and home health partners, and more. -
Shared knowledge and ideas
Conversations at these events often spark ideas about how we can better reach and support caregivers, Veterans, and families who are feeling overwhelmed. -
A network that cares
Many of the women in that room today also care for aging parents, grandparents, or neighbors. They understand firsthand how important reliable, compassionate home care is—and they help spread the word about what we do.
A Lighthearted Moment: The Grinch Makes an Appearance
Of course, no holiday luncheon would be complete without a little fun.
One of my favorite moments was snapping a picture with Janet Tueller and the Grinch. It was a good reminder that joy, playfulness, and a sense of humor belong in business too—especially in the work we do with seniors.
In home care, we talk a lot about safety, health, and support… but joy matters just as much. Our caregivers bring smiles, laughter, and connection into our clients’ homes every day, and that same spirit was alive and well at the luncheon.
Proud to Be a Woman-Owned, Community-Focused Business
Attending the Women in Business Holiday Luncheon also gave me a chance to reflect on what I’m most proud of at Assisting Hands Davis:
-
We are locally owned and operated, deeply rooted in Davis and Weber Counties.
-
We are Veteran owned and VA approved, working closely with Veterans and their families to navigate VA home care benefits.
-
We are passionate about dementia and Alzheimer’s education, supporting families with both compassionate care and practical guidance.
-
We believe in treating clients—and caregivers—like family.
Being part of the Davis Chamber of Commerce, and especially the Women in Business group, means we’re not doing this work alone. We’re surrounded by women who believe in integrity, service, and lifting each other up.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we wrap up 2025 and move into a new year, I’m grateful for:
-
The connections made at events like today’s luncheon
-
The chance to learn from other women in leadership
-
The continued opportunity to serve seniors, Veterans, and families in our community
My hope for 2026 is simple: more collaboration, more community, and more support for the families who are caring for aging loved ones.
