Moments That Matter — “Wednesday” With a Heart of Gold

November 7, 2025lbrown

Some moments in home care are small and quiet—a warm cup of tea, a freshly made bed, a steady arm on the stairs. Other moments sparkle. Today’s story has a little of both.

Meet Haley, one of our beloved caregivers at Assisting Hands Home Care – Davis & Weber Counties. On Halloween, she slipped into character as Wednesday Addams—braids, black dress, the whole vibe—and spent the day visiting clients who look forward to her cheerful knock. It was fun and festive, sure, but it was also pure Haley: thoughtful, reliable, and all-in for the people she serves.

Why this moment matters

  • Joy as care. Many seniors miss the seasonal traditions they once hosted. Haley brought the holiday to them—sharing smiles, swapping stories about past costumes, and adding a touch of whimsy to the routine.

  • Dependable in a pinch. When last-minute call-offs happen (and in home care, they do), Haley is one of the first to raise her hand. She regularly picks up shifts to make sure clients aren’t left without support.

  • Loved by clients. We hear it all the time: “Is Haley coming today?” She builds trust through consistency, gentleness, and the little details—favorite snacks, preferred music, and just the right amount of conversation.

Above and beyond, every day

Dressing up was the fun part; the real magic is what happened between the laughs. Haley helped our clients with the essentials—medication reminders, meals, light housekeeping, and a safe shower—while also noticing the small things: a low fridge shelf that’s hard to reach, a stubborn button on a cardigan, a reminder note that needed bigger print. Those “extras” are the difference between getting by and truly feeling cared for.

A culture of showing up

At Assisting Hands Davis & Weber, we talk a lot about showing up with heart. Haley embodies that. She brings reliability when schedules wobble, calm when families feel overwhelmed, and delight on days that could otherwise blend together. Costumes aren’t required—compassion is. But on Halloween, Haley managed both.

Thank you, Haley

To our teammate who treats clients like family and teammates like friends: thank you for your big heart, quick “yes,” and Wednesday-level commitment (minus the deadpan). You make our days—and our clients’ days—brighter.
