Medel and Angel are a husband-and-wife team with over 35 years of combined experience in physical rehabilitation and senior care. As a licensed Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant, they have proudly served the Northwest Indiana community since 2003, working in skilled nursing facilities and home health settings.

Throughout their careers, they have helped countless individuals regain strength, mobility, and confidence. However, they also recognized that one of the most vulnerable times often comes after discharge—when patients return home and must adjust to new routines, potential risks, and uncertainty. Families frequently worry whether their loved ones have the support they need to stay safe and recover successfully.

Understanding the importance of remaining at home—where people feel safe, comfortable, and in control—inspired them to expand their mission by opening Assisting Hands Merrillville, a trusted provider of non-medical in-home care services.

At Assisting Hands Merrillville, Medel and Angel offer personalized, compassionate care that promotes safety, independence, and dignity. Drawing on their clinical backgrounds, they train and mentor caregivers to ensure they possess both the skills and empathy required to deliver exceptional care.
