Signs Your Loved Ones May Need Extra Help

October 31, 2016BlogAdmin

Everyone is getting Old! Families of aging adults have to take into consideration some signs that may lead them to becoming a caregiver for a loved one. There are typically two scenarios in which a family member has to take on caregiver role and provide Extra Help to their aging parents:

  1. Speedy Dash: A speedy Dash into caregiving is triggered by an unexpected event like a stroke, sudden fall or a complication in a surgery.
  2. Slow Hike: A Slow Hike, might not be noticed right away, but signs of slow changes should be noted. Constantly watch how your loved one interacts with the outside world, they might be forgetting medication, getting lost on familiar routes.

Extra Help

Whether the change is speedy or slow, there are prominent signs you can start watching out for. If your loved one is consistently showing these signs, they may soon be needing extra help.

Look out for the below mentioned signs and start prepping for extra help when and where needed:

  • Somatic Signs
    • Sudden bruises or inexplicable burns
    • Change in sleeping patterns

    • Changing weight (loss or gain)
  • Intellectual Signs
