Over the past 7 years, she has been there until the end for her clients, even attending their funerals to pay her last respects.
One of Maude’s recent clients, Jimmy, is in the late stages of Parkinson’s disease requires overnight care so that family can get some rest. Maude is attentive to his every need, and Jimmy calls her “My Angel.” Recently, Jimmy had a medical emergency. Maude was across the hall when the monitor started to shake violently. He was having a seizure this was a new episode for Jimmy, but Maude knew exactly what to do. She remained calm and called 911 as he held his hand and tried to comfort him by stroking his leg. She alerted other household members as to what was happening and kept her composure the entire time. Jimmy’s family was completely amazed by her professionalism. She is a true hero to her clients and their families in so many ways.
We are proud of Maude and appreciate all she does. As the May nominee of the Assisting Hands Above the Best Award, she’ll be entered into the competition to win the National Caregiver of the Year Award for the Assisting Hands network. We wish her all the best!
