As people age, certain aspects of life go away for sure – youth, energy, vitality, and above all, the power of mind. Remembering the simple necessary details of life becomes challenging. With mobility independence, people lose the words they use, the brilliant thoughts that form identity. In other words, the subtle aspects of life are systematically, silently and relentlessly stolen. And the thief is none other than Alzheimer’s, a terrible medical condition that affects cognitive behavior.
The condition does not happen overnight. It sneaks up insidiously. In most cases, the culprit is Amyloid Plaques. These are abnormal protein fragments (beta-amyloid) that clump together and build up in the spaces between nerve cells (neurons) in the brain. They are thought to be one of the earliest signs of the disease.
