Food

If you like to shop you need to visit Woodfield Mall. If you are looking for a well-paid job, there are over 5000 companies with offices in this Chicago suburb. But Schaumburg, IL is not just a place to make money and have fun. It’s also a place for people who would like to try different and unique cuisines.

And Schaumburg delivers in this department as well. It’s a home to plenty of unique food establishments that can be found here only. In the article below I would like to highlight three of them that are worth visiting (in no particular order).

Bisi African Restaurant – the story of the owner (Bisi) of that place is fascinating. She was raised by her grandma who taught her the secrets of African cuisine in Nigeria.

The restaurant itself is fancy even thought you can’t tell from the outside (it’s located in a strip mall). There’s a bar but again, the main attraction is the food. Regardless you are a vegan or into meat you’re guaranteed to love it.

Price wise Bisi is not expensive. Their main vegetarian courses are $9.99 which is a great price for food prepared with fresh ingredients. If you don’t have time to dine in the restaurant you can order a takeout.

If you chose to dine in remember that the service is a little slow but that can be a good thing because if you’re visiting it with friends, it would give you time to catch up on the latest gossip.

PitaHouse – if you are into Mediterranean food, Pita House is the place to go in Schaumburg. It’s inexpensive, which makes it great for a quick lunch on a work day since they have a lunch special.

The food is great, no exaggeration. Don’t believe me – check their reviews on Yelp. I personally think that it’s better than the 800-pound gorilla when it comes to Mediterranean food – Pita Inn (I know it’s hard to believe).

If you are not in a rush to get back to work than I would suggest you visit them for dinner to be able to enjoy everything Pita House has to offer. Even though the space isn’t big more likely than not you be able to get a table without waiting.

Food comes out pretty quick which in my opinion is a big plus. If you’re not sure what to get, order the Super Combination plate. This way you’ll be able to try a little bit of everything – hicken kabab, shish kabab, falafel, shawarma and kefta kabab. Just keep in mind that the portions are huge, so come hungry.

And here’s a link to Pita House’s menu if you want to order takeout.

Moga Sushi is my last pick. This Japanese restaurant (with Korean owners) is a little gem. Let me just say that I am not a sushi lover, but this place was able to convert me. They have something called sushi burrito that everyone needs to try – the rice is always well seasoned, and the toppings are fresh. And it comes with a complimentary miso soup, yum!

If you don’t think that these burrito sized sushi rolls are your thing fear not. This little restaurant also has udon, fried rice, sashimi, bento boxes and so much more.

What I also like is that the food is ready really quick which is great since I am always strapped for time during lunch. And the prices, too. Everything is reasonably priced for that kind of food (check out their menu here).

So, do you believe me now when I say that Schaumburg is not just for work and shopping but also for having a good time with good food?
