Meet Our Local Owner

Owner of Assisting Hands - Arlington HeightsDaniellah Salario is the owner of Assisting Hands Home Care, where she has been helping families find quality home care since 2016. As a Gerontologist, Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), and a Dementia Live Coach & Trainer, Daniellah is highly knowledgeable and passionate about the issues facing her clients. She is also a candidate for MA in Gerontology at Northeastern University, where she studied issues in aging, ethics, and navigating the continuity of care. Daniellah obtained her CNA, the certification that many caregivers hold, so she could feel comfortable coaching her care team on providing care for her clients.

Daniellah is passionate about caregiving, and was motivated to enter the field over a decade after caregivers helped her care for her own father. I felt that aging at home with the support of a caregiving team gave my family the best quality of care and comfort during a vulnerable time.

Her Assisting Hands branch has won various honors including Best of Home Care Provider of Choice and Employer of Choice in 2022 and 2023.

When she is not working, Daniellah enjoys yoga, walking, spending time with family, traveling, and learning something new.

In her own words…

Why did you go into this field?

I got into the field after a personal experience when caregivers helped me care for my own father. I felt that aging at home with the support of a caregiving team gave my family the best quality of care and comfort during a vulnerable time. The caregiving team becomes an extension of the family care team. It doesn’t replace what we do as family caregivers but enhances the quality of care and relieves stress so we can be the best version of ourselves when our loved one needs us the most.

What do you love most about your work?

The best part is making a great match. The whole team makes a big effort on the front end to make sure you’re set up to make that match when the time comes. When it fits just right I love hearing the relief in families’ voices. Families go from being very skeptical to telling us the caregiver feel like part of the family. It’s a very rewarding experience.

Not to mention, caregivers get a lot of satisfaction too and experience emotional rewards out of knowing they did well. It’s a win-win when this happens! That challenge keeps me going every day.

What’s one thing you wished people understood about home health care?

That we all really want the same things. Caregivers choose this profession because they want to help, clients call us because they need help. Both want consistency and a qualified, comfortable match. Caregivers want to be appreciated and clients who are in a vulnerable place want to be understood. As we face challenges and the changing nature of healthcare, it’s good to remember that we are all in the same boat and if we can adjust just a little bit, there’s some great synergy in the caregiver-client relationship.

What advice would you give people who are just starting the process of finding in-home care?

Be open and accepting of care and you’ll be surprised how much it can help you to be MORE independent and enrich your life.
