Burnout is a big problem for Caregivers, both professionals and family members. It’s actually endemic in the healthcare industry in general. A survey published in JAMA (https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2813914) this past January found that 70% of health care providers performed patient care-related tasks while on vacation.
Self-care and taking time to oneself as a caregiver is vital. Without that ability to recharge, care for clients or loved ones really suffers. I’m happy to report that we were able to help a family in Broomfield go on their first true vacation in years! Our Assisting Hands caregivers supervised both a senior and a young adult with disabilities, as well as watching over the house and helping to care for the pets. Here’s what the family had to say upon their return:
“You guys were wonderful. We were able to step back into our lives without a hitch! The guys enjoyed the company and had no complaints. We loved it so much we want to have you all back again!”
Kudos to this family for taking a well-deserved break that will energize them to stay connected to their loved ones.
Do you need a break? With no long-term contract to sign, Assisting Hands can help for as little or as much time as you need!
