As I wrote about a few weeks back (https://assistinghands.com/93/colorado/broomfield/blog/beat-the-heat-senior-hydration-essentials/), proper hydration for seniors is difficult to achieve, but makes a huge difference in their safety and overall health.
This topic struck a chord with a lot of people, so we developed a fun seminar to present to senior community residents. Crossroads Senior Living (http://crossroadsalc.org) in Northglenn was the first to graciously invite Assisting Hands to address their residents.
We exhibited several beverage options, and performed a blind tasting of three different electrolyte mixes, each with a different flavor. Opinions were strongly divided on the best flavor, but Kiwi Strawberry was the winner, followed closely by Grape.
Feedback from the Crossroads residents was that these electrolyte drinks might be a popular addition to the menu at the community. A big thanks goes out to Marla Kalin, the Activities Director at Crossroads, for hosting this demonstration, encouraging the residents to participate, and for relaying the results to the kitchen staff.
Stay hydrated out there, my friends!
