It will be Fall soon, my favorite season! Cool, breezy weather, beautiful colors on the trees, scarecrows and pumpkins everywhere! And something even scarier than that is coming too… the flu!
35 million people got the flu last year, according to the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/index.html). 390,000 were hospitalized and 25,000 died. These are serious numbers – because of the COVID pandemic, we sometimes forget how bad the annual flu can be. Most of our clients have weakened immune systems; we don’t want them to become one of those numbers!
The easiest and most effective way to prevent flu is by getting vaccinated. I got my shot yesterday, even though needles terrify me. It was quick, easy, and free at my local pharmacy. At Assisting Hands, we encourage all of our caregivers (and all of our clients) to get the flu shot. Now is the time, get yours before things get really spooky!
