TV Shows for Those Suffering From Dementia
TV shows and movies can be great tools for caregivers to provide for those who are suffering from dementia. However, finding the right shows can be very difficult. It is important to choose shows that are positive, as negative storylines can actually cause distress to those with dementia. Interestingly, even commercials or news can cause patients to become anxious and stressed.
Those who suffer from cognitive disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer’s process things differently than those who have normal functions. For instance, it is difficult for these patients to distinguish the difference between what is reality and what is fiction. They can also feel emotion so strongly that they can actually take on the feelings of what they are watching. This can be both negative and positive feelings.
