This collaboration brings Dementia Doll Therapy to seniors receiving care at home and to residents of local Memory Care communities throughout the Chicago area.
This innovative program introduces a gentle, non-pharmacological approach to dementia care that has been proven to improve the quality of life for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and related conditions. Dementia Doll Therapy fosters emotional connection and offers comfort by appealing to the natural nurturing instinct. For many, holding a lifelike therapy doll brings calm, reduces anxiety, and restores a sense of purpose and pride.
Beyond the emotional benefits, research has shown that this therapy can lead to improved communication, increased cooperation with daily routines such as grooming and eating, fewer outbursts, and even a reduced risk of falls. Altogether, it creates moments of joy and peace in the lives of people who often face confusion and fear.
Through this partnership, Assisting Hands is dedicated to training caregivers in delivering this therapy with the utmost skill, sensitivity, and respect. We are committed to collaborating closely with Memory Care facilities to implement the therapy effectively and make sure their staff receive the essential training.
