Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19, 2016 and you may be trying to search for gift ideas and find just the right thing for the man you want to honor on Father’s Day, whether is your proud father or grandfather, or both.
For your elderly parent, here are a few suggestions by Assisting Hands of Boca Raton and Delray Beach:
Get your father a tablet – maybe you put it off for you didn’t think he would be able to understand how to use a tablet, but mobile devices are more intuitive now, and he will appreciate it very much! Besides, it will be a great opportunity for you and your elderly father to have an activity together (teaching him how to use the tablet :).
Invite your father to a nice memorable dinner – one of the things seniors share the most with our caregivers at home is the following, “I wish my son or daughter visited me more often, but I understand they are busy.” . How would you like to pleasantly surprise your father and tell him, “let’s go out, dinner’s on me tonight!”? Your time and companionship is very valuable to him, every minute of your time is precious to him.
Give your father a book from his favorite author – he will appreciate that you are being thoughtful. Maybe you can even get him an e-reader. Read our infographic: Technology helping seniors.
Help your father at home – maybe he needs help in the garden, maybe there’s some project that was never completed. Whatever the household task, offer your help, he will greatly appreciate your thinking of him.
Father’s Day becomes even more special when your father is filled with the nicest things-like the joy that comes from sharing favorite memories. At Assisting Hands of Boca Raton and Delray Beach, we wish all fathers and grandfathers a happy father’s day on this June 19, and don’t hesitate to call us at (561) 419-6281, should you find yourself or your loved one in need of home care services, including companionship care, alzheimer’s and dementia care, or skilled nursing.
