MARCH
Canned Food Drive
A community-wide canned food drive aimed to support local food banks and shelters.
Canned food plays a vital role in fighting hunger. It’s non-perishable, easy to donate, and provides essential nutrients to individuals and families in need. By participating in the canned food drive, community members can make a significant difference in the lives of their neighbors.
Residents, local businesses, and professionals can participate by bringing canned food items to any of the designated drop-off locations. All donations will be distributed directly to help those in need in our community.
APRIL
Parkinson's Charity Walk/Run Event
This event invites individuals of all ages to walk or run in solidarity with those affected by Parkinson’s disease.
A community- driven initiative to raise awareness and increase public understanding of Parkinson’s disease, its impact on individuals and families, and the importance of research and support services. This charity event is dedicated to Parkinson’s awareness in an effort to raise awareness while also generating proceeds to benefit the Parkinson’s Foundation in their effort to find a cure.
With a modest registration fee of $5, participants will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the Parkinson’s Foundation, supporting vital research, patient support services, and advocacy efforts. Assisting Hands is committed to donating all profits from the event to the Foundation, aiming to make a significant impact in the fight against Parkinson’s.
MAY
Diapers for Mom – A Mother’s Day Tribute
Help collect and distribute diapers to mothers and families in need within the community as a gesture of support and recognition of the challenges and contributions of motherhood.
This community-based event is meant to help mothers of low-income families, single mothers, mothers in shelters, teenage mothers, and any family in need of diaper support.
JULY
Elevate Expo - Uplifting Community Health & Wellness
Improving community health awareness and accessibility to health services
This event provides free health screenings, wellness workshops for stress management, healthy eating, and includes physical fitness demonstrations. Various health seminars will be led by local healthcare professionals on important health and chronic illness topics.
AUGUST
Clean Air Bike Ride for Lung Health Event
This community bike ride event is meant to promote clean air and healthy lungs.
Participants will enjoy a scenic, low-traffic bike ride to help raise awareness and donations for The American Lung Association. Following the bike ride, a healthy lunch will be served. A guest speaker will be presenting information on lung health and smoking cessation.
SEPTEMBER
Dine Out for Alzheimer’s
This event will increase awareness on the importance of support and research for Alzheimer’s Disease.
The “Dine Out for Alzheimer’s” event is a fundraising initiative where a local restaurant (or café) participates by donating a portion of their proceeds from a specific day scheduled Alzheimer’s research, care, and support services. This event provides community patronage at the chosen eatery while also raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.
OCTOBER
Breast Cancer Awareness - Pink Parade
This event is meant to increase awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection through screening.
The Pink Parade participants dress in pink and march through the community to show support for breast cancer awareness. Following the parade, participants are invited to enjoy refreshments, music, and a silent auction with profits benefiting The National Breast Cancer Foundation.
NOVEMBER
Chronic Care Champions: Wellness Package Event
A community event that offers support to individuals and families dealing with chronic conditions such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and breast cancer.
Volunteers are needed to distribute care packages to those dealing with chronic health conditions. Donations are made by the community and local businesses to include items such as non-slip socks, easy-grip utensils, and inspirational books.
