In-Home Care Office Opens in Northwest Illinois

ELGIN, Ill. (February 16, 2015) — In-home care provider Assisting Hands Home Care has opened a new location in Elgin, Illinois. Derek and Angela Flintz, long-time residents of the Northwest Illinois area, opened Assisting Hands of Elgin with a goal of enabling clients to live safely and happily in their home environment rather than moving to a care facility. The new business is located at 920 Davis Road, Suite 209, Elgin, IL 60123 and will serve residents in Cook, Kane and McHenry counties.

This new in-home care office offers non-medical caregivers companionship and personal care to those with physical and developmental disabilities, adults recovering from surgery or hospitalization. Caregivers will assist seniors who need help with daily activities, while preserving their dignity and independence.

“We opened Assisting Hands because it is a way we can help our community and provide quality care to those who deserve and desperately need it,” said Derek.

Both Derek and Angela have extensive professional experience as they launch their new business. Derek holds a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, has been a business owner for more than 10 years and knows firsthand the work needed to make a business grow from the ground up. Angela has been a registered nurse for more than 14 years, with a vast critical care background, including work in hospital intensive care units, emergency rooms and service as a medivac flight nurse. She has served as an instructor for the American Heart Association and the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy in Illinois, teaching individuals CPR/first aid and initial medical response. To better fit her schedule around caring for their three young daughters, Angela chose to work as a case manager for a home-health company. It was during this time that she perceived a lack of quality care for her patients.

“I was discouraged at not being able to provide to seniors in my community all the help that they needed,” said Angela. “I discovered a lack of knowledge among local seniors on options of help or care available.”

The Flintz’s are working to change fill the gap Angela describes by meeting client needs through their new business. Assisting Hands Elgin offers a comprehensive menu of services, which include non-medical caregivers, companionship, personal care services and total care management, filling the void between living at home with dignity and the need for institutionalized medical care.
